Paper lamp -- solved
These images are the same file I that i upload, one to flickr, the other directly to blogspot. Different quality showed up, blogspot appears to be very bad. But when you clicked the image from blogspot, it will show you the original file that I upload, why??
The problem solved by changing the correct path to the file I uploaded.
Paper clip and dots
These are common objects that you usually sees everyday at the office. Again, a macro mode plays its role.

Green Valentine
Took a short break before bursting my brain in front of my Optiplex 745 doing a "mission impossible" project, Grab an office Powershot A550, snipe and shoot it...got a soothing feeling looking at the color...and...back to reality.

After the rain
One afternoon after heavy rains, had a chance to take some photos of waterdrops. Using macro mode on a pocket camera, works really great.

Chinese new year
Its a great time to test my new Canon PowerShot A720IS. I made some photos during chinese new year. The camera works perfectly, although a little bit strange on the battery consumption.

3rd Anniversary
My wife and I are celebrating our 3rd (pardon for the text on the cake :D, not my mistake) anniversary on Feb 5th 2008. Here are photos of the cake, flower, and my son cried begging to blow a candle.

More megapixel? why not!
Recently I bought a Canon PowerShot A720IS, having read many reviews about it, quite promising. I was really satisfied with it, and plan to shoot some more.
Megapixel? no worry
To start this journal, I borrowed my in-laws camera, Canon PowerShot A400, 3.2mpixel. I set everything to off, this camera does not have manual control, so what I did was, turn off AF Assist, beep sound off, etc. Sometimes I play with fill-flash or exposure compensation, but mostly I leave the flash off, and +0. It is an old digital camera, but its a way to start.
Is it you or the camera?
Non-SLR, rangefinder, SLR, those are few types of available technology for a camera, with a single purpose, to make a photograph. Now maybe you do need an SLR, or maybe you don’t. As you probably read many articles on the internet talking about the camera does not matter, well, partly true to certain level, but again not true for special purpose photography, at least thats what I thought.
So are you in the ‘not true’ category? if you are, then you might want to think about what you want and how can you achieve that goal.
Of course you have to master about how to make better photograph, but the application of the technique is through a camera, and to answer the question: you or the camera? I’d say both.
Computer mainboard
Not too bad for an old pocket camera! I tried to shoot one more macro photo, found an old computer mainboard, turn in upside down, and shoot! But the unsteady hands makes it a bit blurry on the pcb text markings, I only had a fluorescent light source above the pcb.
Digital darkroom
I am using GIMP to edit just about every pictures that comes out from my camera. There are many ways to edit your photos, previously I just use Google Picasa, good to catalog your photos, only presents very simple editting features.
And of course, GIMP or Picasa may not be your answer, you can choose many other application for your digital darkroom process. Reading many books also helps, there are tons of resources on the internet that you might find interesting.
But all of that might not be useful for you if you don’t actually take any pictures, well maybe you will use it for something else, I don’t know.
*sorry, this one taken with Nikon D70s
Flower picture
Thankfully a pocket 3.2mpixel camera has its macro feature, so I try to use it and see what was the result. Since lights are not too friendly, i also had to turn on the auto fill-flash. But it turn out to be good.
My Son, Aidan
My 2 year old son playing with his cousin, Kayya, 3yrs. I took this photograph in one afternoon, using Canon PowerShot A400, a 3.2mpixel camera. He loves playing with my guitar, maybe someday he wanted to be a rockstar. Playing with just anything that looks like a digital pocket camera is also one of his favorites.
